Case Study Management For Decades Throughout Social Work

Crisis intervention has been used in case management for decades throughout social work. Crisis intervention is just one form of interventions out of thirteen. Clinical case management involves 13 distinct activities, including engagement of the patient, assessment, planning, linkage with resources, consultation with families, collaboration with psychiatrists, patient psycheducation, and crisis intervention (Kanter, 1989). Even though Crisis management may have not been the correct invention for every situation in social work is extremely helpful when working with client who are in an actual crisis. There are seven stages in the crisis intervention model. Application of Roberts seven-stage crisis intervention model can facilitate the clinician s effective intervening by emphasizing rapid assessment of the client s problem and resources, collaborating on goal selection and attainment, finding alternative coping methods, developing a working alliance, and building upon the client s st rengths (Robert Ottens, 2005). Due to the rising number of crisis social workers face it only makes sense that they turn to crisis intervention to utilize with clients. Unfortunately in social most of the clients meet the social worker when they are in a crisis. The crisis intervention model has become so popular that even the police use it to interact with citizens with a mental illness.
